Tad`s Steaks in New York City

I was here few months ago and couldn't wait to come back. The meats are soft, not chewy and delicious. Tbone, sirloin etc all taste great. The garlic bread is a must. The aspect of the Place is old and a little dirty, but the food is really worth it

Fantastic restaurant! My Husband & visited in early April and ate here almost everyday! We enjoyed breakfast and dinner here! Food was amazingly delicious as well as the very friendly & helpful staff! We felt welcomed there from the minute we walked in! Not to mention very reasonable pricing considered being in the heart of San Francisco! We both highly recommend this establishment!

Now I see why they're closing ! The steak was poor quality. Carpet is filthy. Definitely time to say goodbye.

One of my favorite steak places in the city! Right on 50th street. Great amount of food for a great price. Service is great and they make the steak how you like it. You want to eat a lot get the #2 (seen in pic) you like t-bone steak get the #1, I also recommend the filet mignon (seen in the pic). Garlic bread and baked potato is delicious!

For years we used to go here a lot with my friend now Wife for 20 years or so before we see a Broadway show. So why the 2 stars? Let’s start with good stuff first. Steak is good affordable, nice side and always good to see other options. But then again, I understand working is hard but please employees of Tad’s Steak not be mean to their customers. Two of them even screamed at me just because 1) I asked if our meal is cooked 2) some “manager” asked me a random question which I was not able to respond. She accused of ordering something else although I have two trays of steak in front of me. The cashier so everything. I was so upset we haven’t since. That was 2012. See? BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE DO PUSH AWAY YOUR CUSTOMERS. LEARN!!!!

Didn't realize it was a chain. The facility is run down. Staff was somewhat rude. There were a line of 10 people...so I moved down to allow those behind to order. The young man on drinks directed me to "go back" and wait for my order. Anyhoo, I ordered ribs and while I am certain it was pork (maybe), I highly doubt it was ribs as I hit no bones. 😒 Refer to the picture for your own reference. Rating is 2 as my traveling companion found his entree pretty decent.

So happy that I was finally able to try this place out before it closes this weekend. It was my mother's parents favorite place and I'm sure they were there with me in spirit.

The servers that work there are really nice and helpful. However, the place is not clean and we found hair in one of the dishes. The place is in need of a huge makeover. I felt that I had stepped back into the early 90’s. Hopefully they will improve their cleanliness. Tad steaks has been around for a long time. They have great price points for delicious grilled steaks in the city. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that they will renovate soon.

Best steak house in NYC. Love everything about the restaurant and staff was great.

Steak was rubbery! Potato was dry and burned on the bottom! The cups were not very clean. I took two sips and couldn’t even finish the drink!The man cooking the steaks is very rude and mean. Horrible place. Tads steak used to be good but they’re food and service has gone downhill as well as the cleanliness of dishwear and utensils. Even the jello they sell is old!

Wow great steak meal at a bargain price. Same great taste since 1950s. Love Tads.

The last, or one of the last, vestiges of yesterday New York. The prices have gone up over the years and, depending on what you get, may not be the cheapest eats, but it's still a decent value for decent food, plus it's unique. I guess for me, it's more about the nostalgia than anything else, but I do enjoy the food. Will be sad to see it go.

I love tads steak ❤ the bread is amazing snd so is the steak..I usually get the salad without dressing though.

Probably my very last meal at Tad's, not so much because it's terrible, but because it's closing for good Jan. 5, 2020. For $22, you can get a 10oz steak, garlic bread, a baked potato, garden salad, and a soda. I will miss Tad's. See you on the other side.

This place is great. The staff is freindly. The burgers and the steak sandwich was so tasty. They pork crackiling and cheese curds.

Cant say enough about this chain. It's always been a good spot for a steak. Love their baked potatoes and the full service line. Prices cant be beat an steaks are always made the same way. Highly recommend this place.

I will miss this place. Pound for pound the best steak experience one can have. I have been going to Tads for years. I've eaten at all the legendary steak houses in NYC and Tads will always be considered one of the top ones.

I had been going to Tad's since I was a little girl with my mom. The last place in NYC that was authentically New York. Affordable steaks, no frills, just a good meal and a place to be with family. I will miss Tad's so much. Thank you for the steaks and memories, Tad's! There will always be a special place in my heart for you, and no other place can take that spot.

There use to be a bunch of Tad's steak house's scattered across Manhattan now this is the only one left. You get to choose how you like your steak cooked and the customer service is pretty fast. The steak that I had was cooked exactly the way I liked it very juicy and tender and you get garlic berad a baked potato and a salad.

This place is surprisingly good. Walked in with doubt by the guy at the grill waived at us to go in. Looked at menu for several minutes before making decision! Maybe because of raining very heavily on that freezing day, the place was kind of empty. We ended up with a good piece of steak. The garlic bread was great.

They don't even season the meat and expect that juice they pour all over it to do the job! It only made my bread soggy and I barely tasted any flavor. I asked my steak to be cooked medium rare but they cook all the meat well done, except for my friend's burger which was not even cooked at all. This was such a waste of money and I had a stomachache at the end of it all.

What a pleasant surprise I wasnt sure about this place as reviews were mixed. Yes the roof looks as it has endured many a leak and the floor is carpeted so will not look great. But look past that. The selections of meats vary and you have your option of sides but to be honest...the steak is king. Cooked fresh and to your liking. Tasty and so tender. And the price is also king. Under $20 for steak and sides is sweet...

Great filets ans ribs. So tasty, fresh and cooked perfectly. Staff is always very attentive. Clean place and well organized. Fair prices.

I've been wanting to try Tad Steaks since I've been working in the area for the last year. So, when I heard they were closing in January I knew it was now or never as I know it would be awhile since I will be able to visit the SF location. I decided since I was off on the holiday-- it would be the best day to try it out. Sadly, I was not impressed. The phone etiquette of the customer service was not the best. He told me it would be five minutes to pick up. When I got there, it was an additional 15 minutes at least. The lady who cashed me out was nice-- but for $20.78--- it wasn't worth it... there was minimal fries that lack taste and the burger was alright but I had better. Maybe, the steak dinners are better. But I definitely was not impressed. What a huge let down for something I waited a year for.

I celebrated my birthday last night in this great restaurant. I am glad to say that we passed a phenomenal evening and the place was surely the reason for that strong meeting. The stuff helped in a sweet style, the cooking was great and my buddies were very joyful. We shall definitely return for more joyful events. thanks very much.

Best kept secret on Times Square. Price is right, cook to order and delicious. We will be back....thank you guys for a wonderful experience.

Tad's has been a regular stop of mine for over 20 years. Sadly, this is the last location I know of. I used to eat at the location by MSG and Macy's all the time, since I prefer avoiding Times Square. The steaks are just as juicy and tasty as ever, just remember to tell the grill guy how you when it done at the same time you tell him "#3" or whatever. Still $.99 extra for tomatoes on the salad and the same tasty "au jus" laddled over the steak. Mmmm. Certainly not the best steak in Manhattan, but legendary, tasty and a great value in the new "Disneyland" version of Times Square.

Very nice steak dinner. Pretty big steaks. All is cooked in front of you as you order. Good place for quick dinner near times square.

I loved the number of options and how you can see your meat cooked in front if you. The meal was good; however, the meat was cooked too long.

This place is very simple and very small. I was curious about it because there is always a lig line. So I tried the steak number 8 I think, it was a porterhouse steak with 3 side dishes. We chose the baked potato, salad, and rice. The potato was good. The steak is grilled on a gas grill with no salt or anything. Then there are two options on top of the steak, a gravy or an aioli. The gravy is very tasty.

Nostalgic as I grew up going here for steak. Sad to see it go.

All around good service and i love that nothing have changed about them, thats what make Tads so special to so many New Yorkers.

A fast food styled restaurant that serves steaks! You order and paid at the counter. The steaks are cooked to order. You can watch the chef grilling it behind the counter. No cozy ambience, no table serving. You just pay for the food, which is delicious, big serving size and reasonably priced.

I first went to Tad's Steaks about 60 years ago with my father. I loved watching the steaks & chops go onto the grill with the flames shooting up as they sizzled over the open fire 🔥. The plate came with a whole Idaho Baked Potato and a half-loaf of decadent garlic bread (A-jus/gravy & butter were liberally applied) and you got a bowl of green salad as you paid. You could get lots of extras (for extra fees), including beverages & desserts.Tad's Steaks is EXACTLY as I remember it, and I, for one, will miss them when they're gone, and that will be ALL TOO SOON: before the end of the year. Get there while you can. After this, the last of this legendary chain will be in San Francisco.

The food was good as it has always been.

I haven't had Tad's Steak in nearly 20 years. I saw it on my way to a Broadway Show and had to stop by. Steak was absolutely delicious! Bread & baked potatoe, licking-finger good. Yummy! Its def not an all-frills or fancy type of restaurant, more like ranch style, place meat over grill and splash hearty steak/butter sauces everywhere. Meat eaters like myself drool haha but let the cooker know how you want your meat though... I noticed they cook it rare just to keep the lines moving so if you want it well-done, let the cook know.

So sad see this place go! We enjoyed the last night of Tads! #Memories

Cheap and fast. Solid value.

This is the best value for a steak dinner, and so sad it's closing on January 5th. My parents used to come here when you could get a steak dinner for 1.99. The people who work here are extra nice and patient with the never-ending tourist questions! Mine included, though I live around the corner, and they work ultra fast, b/c there is usually a long double line.

My mother started me on Tads steak while she was pregnant with me 42 years ago. Fresh steak, chicken, burgers, ribs made to order in front of your eyes. 1 of my top 3 places for great food with Heinz 57 sauce to top it off. You won't be disappointed.
